Brundlefy & the Swede is a collaboration between Jason Socci and Matthew Kohnle. The pair had previously worked together in CT instrumental/experimental band "DAYBED" which disbanded in 2000. In 2010, the duo decided to rent a Cabin outside Asheville, NC and have a go at recording new music together, which would be their first collaboration in a decade. The result was "Cabin Music", a sprawling instrumental record which finds intricate acoustic guitars framing the vivid and constantly evolving arrangements, which take in all manner of instrumentation from heady 70's progged-out mellotrons and fuzzed guitars, to idyllic and gorgeous strings, flutes and bass clarinet. The record plays as two uninterrupted sides of music, and balances an adventurous, experimental bent with equal parts unflinching prettiness.

This special cassette edition features both tracks from the original vinyl release on side one, and adds two more on the other. "Side C", which was recorded at the time of the same sessions that yielded Cabin Music, was recently completed for this edition. Based around similar acoustic guitar underpinning as the other tracks of the album, the nearly ten minute track moves through quite a bit of different instrumentation, and featuring a fair amount of collaborators- includeing Eric Rich on Marimba, Parker Childs on upright bass, Josh Francis on trumpet and Sarah Custen on violin, who also contributed to the other tracks on Cabin Music. It proves to be a wonderful centerpiece to the album. "Side D (all of the above)" is a manipulated remix/collage using the Cabin Music instrument tracks as the fodder for an often intense and yet beautifully chaotic track.
